4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

4.1 What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website operators.

4.2 Cookies We Use

GlobalPing uses a minimal set of cookies for essential functionality:

| Purpose | Duration | Type | |---|---|---| | Session management — maintains your server session across page loads. Required for the Service to function. | Session (deleted when browser is closed) | Essential | | Language preference — stores your selected language for the Service interface. | Persistent (until manually cleared) | Functional |

4.3 Third-Party Cookies

We do not set third-party advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. However, third-party services used by the Service (such as CDN providers serving fonts or static assets) may set their own cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies. These may include:

  • jsDelivr CDN: May set cookies related to content delivery and caching when serving Google Fonts or other static assets. Please refer to jsDelivr's privacy policy for more information.

4.4 Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies.
  • Block cookies from specific or all websites.
  • Set preferences for certain types of cookies.

Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. For example, disabling the language preference cookie will prevent the Service from remembering your language preference across sessions, and the interface will default to automatic language detection.

4.5 Do Not Track

We respect the Do Not Track (DNT) browser setting where applicable. Since we do not engage in behavioral tracking or targeted advertising, DNT does not materially change how we operate the Service.

5. Network Diagnostic Data

5.1 Test Input Data

When you use our diagnostic tools, you provide test targets (IP addresses, hostnames, domain names, port numbers). This data is processed as follows:

  • Real-Time Processing: Test targets are dispatched to the appropriate global agent nodes for execution in real time.
  • Temporary Storage: Test input data is stored temporarily in server-side caches for the duration required to execute the test and deliver results to you.
  • No Long-Term Storage of Input: Unless you have an account with test history features enabled, we do not permanently store the specific IP addresses or hostnames you submit for testing beyond the temporary processing period.

5.2 Test Results

Diagnostic test results are generated and handled as follows:

  • Delivery: Results are delivered to you through the website interface via WebSocket connections or HTTP API responses.
  • Temporary Caching: Results may be cached temporarily for performance purposes. Cached results are automatically purged after their time-to-live (TTL) expires.
  • Export: Where supported (e.g., MTR reports), you may export results as images. Exported data is generated on-demand and is not stored on our servers after delivery.
  • Aggregate Use: Test results may be used in aggregate, anonymized form for network research and Service improvement. Individual test results are not attributable to specific Users in such aggregate analyses.

5.3 Data Generated by Targets

When a diagnostic test is executed against a target system, that system's servers and network infrastructure may log the test request as part of their normal operations. These logs are controlled by the target system's operators and are subject to their own privacy policies. We recommend that you only test systems you own or have authorization to test.
